I've been doodling longer than I've been doing music (easily). It definitely shows in my work that I have no formal training. Sometimes, the lacking frustrates me, and other times, surprises me! My favorite medium currently is watercolor and ink. Actually, in the past few years, I've grown to prefer a ball point pen over a pencil for sketching. Perhaps it has something to do with a mentality picked up by the elementary school art teacher I had in 2nd grade: "In art, there's no such thing as mistakes, only opportunities." Granted, I shouldn't use that as a license to get too sloppy, but similar to how I love the unpredictability of improvising musically, the dynamic nature of art and watercolors especially continues to be a lot of fun, especially since I don't have the training to know how to control what happens a lot of the time!
I've begun updating my DeviantArt account and hope to eventually get to know its functions better so I can better organize it. Enjoy!
